Stray dog saves woman's life from man with knife, then gets rescued himself

We’ve all heard stories of dogs saving their families – from protecting them against intruders to quite literally saving their lives. You don’t, however, normally hear of abandoned, stray dogs protecting complete strangers. Then again, Hero the pit bull is not a normal dog.
Hero was wandering around the streets of Baldwin, Georgia when he came across a man who was attempting to hurt a woman with a knife. Hero sprang into action – leaping in between the couple and saving the woman.

Hero was stabbed five times. To make matters worse, he was also covered in old scars and suffered from a badly bent leg – likely from being hit by a car.
Two police officers – Sgt. Timothy Clay and Officer Daniel Seeley – arrived on the scene and found Hero laying on the ground, slowly bleeding out. Though his outlook didn’t look good, the officers couldn’t just leave him there. They found a veterinarian willing to reopen her clinic, but Hero was still not out of the woods yet.
He had lost so much blood already that his gums were white. Hero pulled through, and he was eventually stabilized. A few days later, Hero was stabilized enough to make his way to Fighting for the Bullys in Tennessee.
Carla Welch, of Fighting for the Bullys, is in awe of Hero’s tenacious spirit. She knew he was meant to live in spite of his brutal past.
Seeley and Clay are grateful for all the people involved in saving Hero’s life. They are also grateful for Hero for saving a woman’s life – one he didn’t even know.
Despite Hero’s past – likely suffering from abuse and being hit by a car – Hero nearly sacrificed his life for a complete stranger. His story is one of perseverance and inspiration.
And guess what? Hero is still available for adoption! If you are looking for an amazing dog to add to your family, contact Fighting for the Bullys.

The recent flooding in Louisiana has caused mass destruction for the inhabitants of Louisiana. Humans aren't the only ones affected by these floods, though -- numerous animals have been abandoned and left for dead.
